2023 ENDED IN SPECTACULAR FASHION WITH THE RETURN OF THE DESERT HAVEN SNOWFLAKE BALL!

The music was flowing from the UAV grand ballroom as over 200 party goers danced the night away celebrating the end of 2023 and the return of the in-person DHE Snowflake Ball! The last in-person Snowflake Ball was held in 2019 before the Covid-19 Pandemic and after 4 long years, IT IS BACK! Everyone dusted off their dancing shoes after a delicious meal to party the night away for over four hours of dancing to celebrate a great year! We would like to congratulate the winners of the Queen, King, Princess, and Prince of the Snowflake Ball:
       Queen - Leeanna Hanson
        King - Nico Silber
        Princess - Kristin Landers
        Prince - Richard Faulkner

DHE RECEIVES MONUMENTAL GIFT FROM SPECTRUM

Desert Haven was awarded the first of four installments of $50,000 through Charter/Spectrum’s Community Center Assist program, the company’s five-year, $30 million initiative to revitalize local community centers and invest in job training programs in underserved communities where Spectrum operates. Spectrum kicked off the local partnership with a revitalization event at Desert Haven’s main campus on December 3, 2022, where Spectrum employee volunteers made improvements to Desert Haven’s training rooms for both consumers seeking jobs within the community through the supported employment program, as well as for staff training. In addition to the funds provided during the event and those to come, Spectrum also donated 25 new lap-top computers to support DHE’s workforce development program; provided new tables, chairs, and storage cabinets for the consumer training room; and upgraded the internet service to 1gb at no charge to DHE.

Thank you Spectrum!

THANK YOU SPECTRUM!

DESERT HAVEN IS A GREEN ZONE
Working in partnership with the American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA) and the Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District (AVAQMD), Desert Haven Enterprises' campus has officially been designated as a Certified Green Zone.  This certification is the result of the organization's having kicked gas-powered grounds maintenance equipment to the curb and transitioning to zero-emission, battery-powered equipment.  This change not only lowers the carbon footprint associated with the use of gas-powered equipment, but also mitigates the noise pollution produced by gas-powered equipment, making Desert Haven a great neighbor within the Lancaster Business Park and ahead of its time given the City of Lancaster's fast approaching ban on the use of gas-powered equipment, followed by that of the State of California with regard to the sale of gas-powered equipment.  Desert Haven plans to have all gas-powered grounds maintenance equipment transitioned to zero-emissions equipment prior to the end of the year, starting the New Year off in a very positive way!!!

DESERT HAVEN HONORED BY AVAQMD
We are very excited and humbled to announce that Desert Haven Enterprises was recently honored by the Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District (AVAQMD) with the 2022 William J. "Pete" Knight Memorial Achievement in Reducing Emissions (AIRE) Award.  In partnership with the AVAQMD and the American Green Zone Alliance (AGZA), Desert Haven flipped the switch to all-electric by transitioning its grounds maintenance equipment from gas-powered to battery-powered, thereby eliminating an estimated 393 tons of exhaust emissions annually!

Below is the link to the AV Press article covering the story.

GOING GREEN WITH THE GROUNDS MAINTENANCE CREWS
Desert Haven Enterprises is looking to transition its grounds maintenance equipment to all battery powered in the near future. These tools are quieter, lighter, and cut costs by lowering fuel consumption and maintenance needs. With the help of the Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District and the American Green Zone Alliance, we have been able to test different pieces of battery powered equipment at our work sites to figure out what works best for us. Please let us know if you have any questions on how battery powered equipment works in the field!
